What is the National Academy of Sports?

The National Academy of Sports (NAS) is a sports high school offering full scholarship to qualified Filipino athletes. It was created through Republic Act 11470 on June 9, 2020. Its mandate is to implement a quality and enhanced secondary education program, integrated with a special curriculum on sports. 

Where is the NAS Campus located?

The NAS campus is located in New Clark City, Brgy. Aranguren, Capas 2315, Tarlac.

Is NAS an attached agency of the Department of Education? 

Yes, NAS is an attached agency of the Department of Education (DepEd) in close coordination with the Philppine Sports Commission (PSC). NAS is governed by the Board of Trustees composed of the Secretary of DepEd as Chairperson, the Chairperson of the PSC as Vice-Chairperson, the President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, the Executive Director of NAS and two Representatives from the Private Sector as Members. 

What are the sports being offered?

We have an eight-sport offering, namely: Aquatics (swimming), Athletics (running and jumping), Badminton, Gymnastics (rhythmic), Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo (poomsae and kyorugi), and Weightlifting. NAS accepts applications from student-athletes who excel in events outside of the eight (8) NAS focus sports, as long as the qualifying standards are met by the applicants and must select one of the focus sports being offered in NAS in their application form. 

What are the scholarship privelages?

The following are the privileges of the qualified applicants (based on SY 2023 – 2024 scholarship agreement):


• Full tuition and Miscellaneous fees


• Meals and Accommodation


• Loan of learning materials such as books and e-books


• Monthly stipend


• Sports uniform and equipment


• Access to all sports facilities (subject to the approval of BCDA)


• Provision for health, emergency, and rehabilitation support (insurance, medical care, etc.)


• Covered expenses for participation in NAS local and international trainings and competitions.


• Such other inclusions/privileges and benefits as may be specifically documented under the rules and policies of NAS, subject to the availability of funds and government accounting/auditing rules and Procedures.

What are the facilities to be used by each focus sport?

The NAS Main Campus Facilities available are Multi-Purpose Court for Badminton and Gymnastics, Judo Dojo for Judo, Table Tennis Court for Table Tennis, Taekwondo Gym for both Taekwondo Kyorugi and Poomsae, Strength and Conditioning Room for Weightlifting and access to New Clark City facilities for the Aquatics Center for Swimming and the Athletics Stadium for Athletics.

Are there any other satellite campuses of NAS?

At present, all operations and activities are centralized at the main campus located in New Clark City, Brgy. Aranguren, Capas,  NAS is currently identifying satellite branches & regional campuses of the NAS system.
